Digital Switchover

Digital switchover has begun in Wiltshire and it will continue to be rolled out across the county.

When the switchover is completed for a transmitter, the analogue signals are permanently switched off . If switchover hasn’t already happened in your area you will need digital TV capability and if you are already using digital TV services, some of these may need to be re-tuned.

Wiltshire is served by the Mendip, Hannington and Rowridge transmitters.

The Mendip transmitter covers Calne, Chitterne, Marlborough, Ogbourne St. George and Upavon and it has already switched over.

The Hannington transmitter switched in February 2012. It serves Tidworth and The Bournes.

The Rowridge transmitter covers Shrewton and Salisbury. It moves over in two stages – the first stage is on 7th March 2012 (BBC2 goes to digital and some new digital channels become available) and the second is on 21st March (the rest of the analogue channels switch and the remaining digital channels become available).

If you are using Sky TV or Freesat from Sky on all of your TV sets you will not be affected by switchover. If you are using Freeview, BT Vision, Top Up TV or haven’t yet got digital TV, you will be affected by the switchover.
After switchover on the Rowridge transmitter you will need a Group A aerial to receive all available digital TV channels.
