Wilton House was used for this Netflix series. It featured as Queen Charlotte’s royal residence, Lady Danbury’s library, the dining room of Clyvedon Castle, the exterior, corridors and study of the home of the Duke of Hastings, and it was also the site of a garden party.

Great Expectations

Poldark

Corsham High Street doubled as Truro in the first series of the BBC’s production of Poldark starring Aiden Turner. Scenes were filmed in Great Chalfield Manor for series two.

The Crown

This Netflix drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The Double Cube Room at Wilton House was used for the scene where when Queen Elizabeth II greets guests like President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie Kennedy

Wolf Hall

Filmed in Bradford on Avon’s Tithe Barn and Castle Combe were used for the BBC historical drama. Great Chalfield Manor’s interiors stood in for Thomas Cromwell’s home. The outside of Lacock Abbey stood in for Wolf Hall, the Seymour family seat.

Barry Lyndon (1975)

The interior of ‘Castle Hackton’ is mostly filmed in Wilton House in this Stanley Kubrick film.

Chocolat (2000)

The lake at Fonthill Bishop, near Tisbury was used for river scenes. The film starred Johnny Depp. Chocolat was written by Joanne Harris.

An orphaned girl, Mary Lennox (Dixie Egerickx) discovers a magical garden hidden at her strict uncle’s estate – Lord Craven, played by Colin Firth. The beautiful Harold Peto garden at Iford Manor, with thier colonnades and wisteria, were used as a key location.
