While Bowood House and Gardens are now closed for the winter season (re-opening for spring on 1st April 2017), the House will open up to the public for just three days at the end of this month for some very special Christmas shopping that’s well away from the hustle-and-bustle of the high street!

Bowood House Christmas Extravaganza will be held on Wednesday 23 – Friday 25 November.

The Marchioness of Lansdowne’s festive shopping celebration will play to the splendour of Robert Adam’s Orangery at Bowood House while also raising funds for the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

During the three-day event, shoppers will have the chance to seek out upscale items from a wealth of gift stalls spreading out from the House Restaurant, through to the Sculpture Gallery and on into the Orangery, the surrounding Robert Adam interiors (dating back to the 1760s) and impressive collection of paintings, sculptures and tapestries will bring incomparable panache to Bowood House’s colonnaded ‘pop-up’ shopping arcade. Cashmere, jewellery, scented candles, festive decorations, wrapping paper and ribbon, indulgent foodie treats, handmade toys and imaginative stocking fillers are among the many choices set to inspire the Christmas shopper seeking to enjoy the whole process. A Christmas Café will be open throughout the three-day Extravaganza.

Heralding a heightened sense of occasion, the opening night on Wednesday 23rd is a ticketed preview evening – priced at £15 per person and running from 4-8pm – with Carol singers performing in the private family Chapel, canapés and mulled wine.

Thursday’s opening times are from 10am-7pm while Friday’s are from 10am-3pm. Entrance prices on the day are £8 but if booked in advance will be £6 per person while advance group bookings of four tickets are priced at £20.
