Celebrities and artists raise money for Wiltshire forest school

Celebrities and renowned artists are amongst those participating in the Secret Postcard Sale at Messums, Wiltshire.

Royal favourite landscape and racehorse painter Charles Church, portrait painter Jemma Phipps and local artist Tom Hoar will be creating artworks for the sale, which will be held at Messums Wiltshire on February 17, 2018.

Celebrities including Hollywood director Guy Ritchie will also submit a postcard-sized artwork, all of which will be signed on the reverse. Additional artwork will come from students from Bath University, parents, friends and many more accomplished artists.

Each postcard will be exhibited anonymously and all will be priced at £40 each.

The  hope is to raise over £7000 to fund a new forest-school-inspired outside classroom for the pupils of Wardour Primary.

Organiser of the sale, local mother Chloe Luxton said: “This is an exciting opportunity to own an original work of art by an award winning artist or celebrity or simply buy a beautiful piece to admire, knowing that the sale has benefitted the local community.”

“Wardour’s forest school project teaches the children many life skills, increasing self-confidence and enthusiasm for learning in an outdoor environment.”

The forest school will be a key element of the overall curriculum for the 112 pupils who attend the school.

Messums Wiltshire supports artistic creativity as an essential part of learning and has donated the Long Gallery to exhibit the postcards. They’re hosting a champagne reception preview event on February 16, prior to the sale at 10.00am the following day.
