The Longleat Horse Trials

Friday 30th August sees the start  of The Longleat Horse Trials, located in the heart of the stunning Longleat Estate. Offering amateur, unaffiliated riders the chance to participate in either the Two or Three Day Event, this weekend will see competitors come from nationwide for the chance to ride.

Aimed towards the family, whether competing or just enjoying the atmosphere as a spectator, this annual event is set to become the highlight in any equestrian enthusiast’s eventing calendar.

With a new, purpose built cross country course, designed by Mr Eric Winter, starting at just 80cm, the event will offer an exciting challenge for any rider. This inaugural event will see over three hundred riders, competing in the three disciplines over the long weekend, with riders ranging from fourteen to sixty years of age.

The last of the entries are being confirmed, as the final countdown to opening the gates on Friday 30th continues.

The first day of the Three Day Event will see Dressage hosted within the Sunseeker Dressage Arenas. Overlooking the action will be an array of exhibitor stands, as well as a fabulous choice of catering facilities.

Saturday will see the Two Day Event commence with further action in the Sunseeker Dressage Arenas, as well as the start of all the excitement within the Show Jumping Arena. The Three Day Eventers move to the long format Cross Country phase, which will include Roads & Tracks, Steeplechase and Cross Country disciplines, a true test of any competitive combination.

Sunday brings you the highlights of the final stages of both competitions, as well as an action packed arena programme bearing witness to displays of falconry, dog agility, sheep dog trialing set to include geese, Pony Club Mounted Games and a Hunt Relay.

Whether you are competing, have a passion for equestrian sport or just enjoy a weekend in the great outdoors with the family, there is a great day’s entertainment waiting for you at the Longleat Estate.
