To encourage children to celebrate local history, The Shires Shopping Centre is giving a local primary school class, Scout group or youth club the chance to enjoy a special after dark visit to Trowbridge Museum on Friday 8 July.

Taking part in a torchlit search around the museum and settling down to a special screening of the film ‘Night at the Museum’, the group will get to spend the evening and find out about some of the unique treasures housed in the museum.

Sarah-Louise Moore, Centre Manager at The Shires Shopping Centre, said: “As a town with a rich history that dates back to the Doomsday Book, we’re delighted to be encouraging children to learn more about the area they live. Trowbridge Museum is filled with a wide range of interesting artefacts so the competition is a great opportunity to do something completely different.”

For a chance to win, a primary school class or youth based group just needs to answer this question:

What is the name of Trowbridge Museum’s sheep?

A: Shorty

B: Squeaky

C: Stumpy

The answer can be emailed to TheShires@pmwcom.co.uk or a comment can be made on the competition post on The Shires Facebook page. The deadline for entry is Monday 27 June and one winner will be chosen at random from all correct entries. The winning group will be notified by Wednesday 29 June. Full terms and conditions can be found on The Shires Shopping Centre website – www.shirescentre.co.uk.
